Parent Leadership Advocacy Network

(PLAN)

Improving Nurturing and Advocacy Skills for parents...For the Love of Learning and the love of our children...

PLAN is the Parent Leadership Advocacy Network (PLAN) that works with parents in Hillsborough County.  PLAN features an evidence based curriculum provided to help parents and children learn to care for themselves and each other and to replace old, unwanted negative interactions with newer, more nurturing and positive ones.

TBAH teaches parents the techniques of advocating for their children. We provide education and employment training, parenting, financial literacy, healthcare, and life skills to our parents through this network. Parent meetings are held once a week.

Research shows that when parents are involved in their children's education the children are most likely to:

  • earn better grades.
  • score higher on test.
  • pass their classes.
  • attend school regularly.
  • have better social skills.
  • show improved behavior.
  • be more positive in their attitude toward school.
  • complete homework assignments.
  • graduate and continue their education.

Building parent involvement is the single most important goal of our parent groups.  It is also the most difficult task. There are many compelling reason why parents--all parents--should get involved in their children's education.
